ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction is a minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn ACL, one of the major ligaments stabilizing the knee. It’s common in athletes and active individuals.
Symptoms of an ACL Tear
- Pop sound or sensation at the time of injury.
- Severe pain & rapid swelling (within hours).
- Knee instability (feeling of "giving way").
- Difficulty walking or bearing weight.
- Limited range of motion (stiffness).
Common Causes:
- Sudden stops/pivots (basketball, soccer).
- Direct impact (football, rugby).
- Awkward landings (skiing, volleyball).
